A new era of breakfast begins in South City. Rooted in tradition, served with love. •
For nearly a century, the corner of S. Kingshighway and Potomac has been home to a cozy timber-framed building housing various eateries. Since 1961 it has been the home of Uncle Bill’s — a St. Louis institution where breakfast was served 24 hours a day, and where regulars were treated like family. What began as a humble log cabin diner in the 1930s evolved into the city’s first true pancake house, known just as much for its secret recipes and all-hours charm as for its loyal crew, familiar faces, and legendary griddle. From the hand hewn beams to the scent of hickory bacon, every detail told a story.
Now, under the care of the Garcia family — passionate stewards of South City’s next chapter — Uncle Bill’s is preparing for a heartfelt return. With reverence for the past and a bold new vision for the future, this landmark is being lovingly revived to once again welcome all walks of life to gather, linger, and feast. The lights are coming back on — and breakfast is still on the menu.
